Isla Cristina

Isla Cristina is a locality in Huelva, Costa de la Luz that borders with Islantilla and Lepe to it's east and Ayamonte to the west. It's population exceeds 20,000 inhabitants. It's economy is mainly based on fishing and tourism. It is a locality in the Costa de la Luz with a fishing tradition.

Isla Cristina is a city that faces the sea, it's streets and avenues are all facing in that direction. For this reason we find many monuments like for example the Church of Our lady Dolores, from the 20th century, as well as the Flower avenue and the Patio house of San Francisco as some of the most important monuments.

Fishing is still considered a tradition as well as a source of income. The selling of fish on the docks is good proof of this, it is definately something worth seeing while on holiday in Isla Cristina. You must also enjoy the 12kms of golden sand beaches and crystal clear waters. There are 10 main beaches, like that of Punta del Caiman, La Redondela and Islantilla.

As to what nature is concerned, the Natural Park of Las Marismas of Isla Cristina is a unique spot where you can observe many different types of bird species, it's gastronomy, it's festivities, and different sport activities to be enjoyed in the outdoors, on the beach or dry land. Golf is one of the activities that is in highest demand.
